Riverton Village Board of Trustees met  August 7. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

The President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverton held their regular board meeting on August 7th, 2017 at the Riverton Village Hall, Riverton, IL.


The board meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Those answering roll call: Mayor Tom Rader. Trustees: Russ Patrick, Dave Charles, Chris Collins, Joe Bartley, Jim Mileham, and Michelle Landess. Also in attendance were: Chief Lawley, Superintendent Lyons, Office Manager Stacy Patterson, and Treasurer Lashonda Fitch.

The pledge of allegiance was recited.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve July 17th meeting minutes and pay the bills. It was seconded by Trustee Mileham. Trustees Bartley, Charles, Patrick, Collins, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Old Business:

There was no old business on the agenda.

New Business:

Trustee Landess made a motion for the Approval of Audit not to exceed $29,500.00. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Superintendent Lyons presented the board with his report. (See attached report). He added that there have been issues with people dumping trash at Garage #1. Mayor Rader deferred this to the Administration Committee.

Officer Lawley presented the board with his report. (See attached report). He added that the National Night Out was a good turnout and he thanked all employees and volunteers for their help.

Office Manager Patterson had nothing to report.

Treasurer Fitch had nothing to report.

Trustee Landess, chairman of the Administration Committee, stated that she looked into magnets for employees to hand out with the Village’s contact information. The price would be $120.00 for 500 magnets. The board will discuss this. She also thanked the Duggins for the new board table.

Trustee Mileham, chairman of the Public Safety Committee, stated that new rifles have been budgeted for the Police. These will be their own weapons and they will not have to check them in and out.

Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve the purchase of the new rifles at the cost of $11,000. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Patrick, chairman of the Public Utility Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Charles, chairman of the Parks Committee, commended all of the officers and the village employees on their hard work on National Night Out. The next event will be Family Night at Center Park on 8/9 from 6-9.

Trustee Collins, chairman of the Public Works Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Bartley, chairman of the Economic Development Committee, had nothing to report.

Mayor Rader stated that the State Fair Local Official’s Day is 8/12 from 5-6:30.

Trustee Mileham made a motion to go into closed session at 7:17. Trustee Collins seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes. The board went back into open session at 7:33.

Trustee Collins made a motion to pay $148.00 to get 200 books to give to the Elementary School. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:35. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
