Analysis: Springfield pays $5.76 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Springfield Firefighter's Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 85.1 percent of the $11,506,735 the Springfield Firefighter's Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.76 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Sangamon Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Springfield contributed $9,786,645 to the fund, which saw a $189,446 decrease in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $1,696,300, or 14.7 percent, in 2016. Another $23,790 came from other unspecified sources.
