In a statement posted on Facebook recently, Illinois state Rep. Sue Scherer (D-Decatur) urged her constituents to support unions by purchasing union-made candy for Halloween.
In recent weeks, Scherer has also urged her female constituents to get a mammogram screening.
"If you haven’t been screened- please do!" she said on Facebook. "Make a plan and follow through. FREE screenings every Monday at Decatur Memorial Hospital & Springfield Memorial Hospital!! Do it for your family, for your friends, for YOU!"
Scherer also attended the ribbon cutting for the Springfield Rail Improvement Project.
"Ribbon cutting for high speed rail at 5th/6th street today!" she said on Facebook, quoted by the Sangamon Sun. "This started the year I came in. Happy to see it to fruition!"
Scherer was first elected to the Illinois House in 2013, the Illinois General Assembly website said. She has served on the Elementary Secondary Education, License and Charter, and Appropriations – Elementary and Secondary Education committees. She resides in Decatur.
