The Illinois College 4x100 meter relay team delivered a standout performance at the Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship held at England Stadium in Jacksonville, Illinois. The team, consisting of Mattie Brown, Mady Salisbury, Haley Garrett, and Deja Anderson, set a new record with their time of 47.67 seconds. This achievement broke both the Illinois College and Midwest Conference Outdoor Championship records.
The Lady Blues secured fifth place in the overall team standings. In individual events, Anderson (12.31 seconds), Brown (12.37 seconds), and Garrett (12.55 seconds) claimed second, third, and fourth places respectively in the 100 meters race.
In the 200 meters event, Garrett finished second with a time of 25.81 seconds while Anderson followed closely in third place at 26.08 seconds.
Deja Anderson's impressive performances throughout the weekend earned her the title of Conference's Newcomer of the Year for both indoor and outdoor seasons.
Additionally, Aleese Trimingham contributed to the team's success by finishing second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.55 seconds.
In field events, senior Sydney Kuper achieved a second-place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 47.35 meters and secured third place in discus throwing with a mark of 38.26 meters.
