Illinois College excels at Fighting Scot Invitational with five championship wins

Five championships were secured by the Illinois College men's track and field team at the Fighting Scot Invitational, held at April Zorn Memorial Stadium in Monmouth, Illinois. The event took place on Saturday.

The 4x100 relay team, consisting of Brady Borntreger, Jaden Saunders, Miles Weddington, and Dylan Doss, claimed victory with a time of 42.34 seconds. Doss also excelled individually by winning titles in both the 400 meters with a time of 50.80 seconds and the long jump with a leap measuring 7.17 meters. In the long jump, Adam Sipes achieved third place with a mark of 6.37 meters, while Saunders finished fifth with a jump of 6.29 meters.

Adam Hernandez secured first place in the 110-meter hurdles clocking in at 15.59 seconds. His teammate Austin Robinson came fourth in this event with a time of 16.30 seconds.

Jackson Lee contributed to IC's achievements by winning the pole vault after clearing a height of 4.15 meters.

Additional notable performances included second-place finishes from Will Detmer in the 800 meters (1:57.74) and Deon Rodgers in the discus throw (47.66 meters). Saunders also took third place in the 100 meters with a time of 11.00 seconds.

Four individuals from IC achieved fourth-place finishes: Nathan Barth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.63), Drake Mudd in the triple jump (11.75 meters), Deon Rodgers in shot put (13.41 meters), and Melvin Hodge in hammer throw (48.48 meters).

Looking ahead, Illinois College will host the upcoming Midwest Conference Championship at England Stadium next weekend on Friday and Saturday.
