Beef prices climbed by 31%, as ground beef averaged $4.12 per pound in 2020. Egg prices saw the most substantial increase at 46%, with eggs averaging $1.51 per dozen in 2020.

In 2024, these rising costs continue to impact families across Illinois, leading to what is described as "inflation sticker shock."
