McCann narrowly holds off GOP challenger Benton in 50th Senate District primary
In the March 15 Illinois Senate Republican primary for District 50, Bryce Benton lost to incumbent state Sen. Sam McCann. A total of 22,637 votes were cast in Sangamon County. Benton claimed 50.53 percent of the votes -- receiving 11,438 votes, while McCann received 11,199 votes (49.47 percent).
