St. John's Hospital Springfield Illinois issued the following announcement on March 24.
Civilians should have basic training in Bleeding Control concepts, to be able to provide immediate aid until help arrives and takes over care of any injured person. Due to many situations, there may be a delay between the time of injury and the time a first responder is on the scene. Without civilian intervention, preventable deaths can occur. Research has shown that bystanders, even with very little medical training, can save a life. Everyone should take this course!
This free Stop the Bleed Training is sponsored by Springfield Firefighters Local 37 and taught by HSHS St. John's Regional Trauma Center, a DOD licensed authorized provider. Saints Flight helicopter will be flying in and assisting with the course. All participants will receive a bleeding control kit.
