City of Atlanta City Council met Dec. 17.

OPEN: The regular meeting of the Atlanta City Council was held at the Atlanta City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor McVey at 7:30pm.
Pledge of Allegiance
ROLL CALL: Colaw, Thomas, Young, Dreyer, Evans and Cheek were present.
Motion by Evans second by Cheek to approve the minutes from December 3rd as presented.

Carl Johnston brought up some ideas to the council that included a dog wash a dog park. He felt that these would be good additions for the community.
The Cannabis ordinance was presented to the council with the Pharmacy exemption included.
Chief Eimer presented information on enforcement of the Cannabis laws in the city and County. He answered questions from the council. Eventually all City Officers will be certified in detection. The ordinance was reviewed.
Motion by Cheek second by Thomas to accept the Ordinance as presented.

Alderwoman Thomas reported on a request from the Logan County tourism to participate again in a Route magazine ad for the April 2020 issue, in the amount of $600.00.
Route magazine has 60,000 subscribers.
Alderman Young felt that tourism was overrated, and it doesn’t pay.
Motion by Colaw second by Evans to approve the request for the $600 for an Ad in Route magazine.

Alderman Colaw felt that a random drug testing policy should be put in place for all City employees.
Alderwoman Thomas felt that cannabis smoking parlors should be covered. The Mayor will check to see if it is covered under the ordinance just passed.
She complimented the Street dept on how well the streets were cleared from the latest snow fall.
Alderwoman Cheek felt that a sign could be placed at the site of the truck stop, such as future home of.
Mayor McVey reported on a preconstruction meeting held with engineers pertaining to the truck stop.
He also reported that a meeting was held with Keith Moran. He will be back in January to talk to the council.
