The Illinois College women's softball team experienced mixed results in their games on Monday in Kissimmee, Florida. They secured a victory against Carlow with a 9-0 score but faced defeat against Aurora, losing 11-2.

In the first game, Illinois College's pitchers Hannah Crouch and Calynn Gicante delivered a combined no-hitter. Crouch pitched the initial four innings, recording two strikeouts, while Gicante completed the final inning.

Gicante also contributed offensively by hitting a two-run single that initiated a three-run first inning for the Lady Blues. Kendall Cole added to the score with an RBI single. The team scored two more runs in the second inning through an RBI double by Taylor Henry and an error by Carlow.

Illinois College further extended their lead with three runs in the fifth inning. Allison Mortland hit a two-run double, Lucy Snow scored on an error, and Cheyenne Anderson singled to bring Mortland home.

In their second game of the day against Aurora, Illinois College fell behind early as Aurora scored single runs in each of the first two innings. Illinois College responded in the third inning when Kayla Serpa singled, advanced to third on another single by Henry, and then stole home.

Aurora widened their lead with three runs in the fourth inning. The Lady Blues managed another run in the fifth when Serpa scored off a Gicante single. However, Aurora sealed their win with six additional runs in the sixth inning.

Henry and Gicante both had two hits each for Illinois College during this game. Julia Drake was charged with the loss after pitching four innings and allowing five runs on six hits while striking out three batters.

Illinois College will continue their Florida tour tomorrow with games scheduled against Marietta at 4:15 p.m. and Benedictine at 6:15 p.m.
