The Illinois College women's track and field team showcased their skills at the Jim Green Invite, held inside King Field House in Jacksonville, Illinois. The event concluded with five champions from the college's team.
Deja Anderson excelled in the long jump, achieving a distance of 5.21 meters. In the 60-meter dash, Mattie Brown secured first place with a time of 8.06 seconds. Maddison Dortch claimed victory in the 800 meters, finishing with a time of 2:37.22.
The Lady Blues also succeeded in relay events. A team comprising Brown, Brooke Oakley, Hailey Garrett, and Anderson won the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:46.69. Another group consisting of Apiphany Patterson, Maddie Benson, Aleese Trimingham, and Oakley triumphed in the 4x400 relay by clocking in at 4:17.68.
In other notable performances, the Distance Medley Relay team—comprising Kairy Mercado-Ramos, Patterson, Claire Peters, and Dortch—finished second with a time of 14:20.60. Trimingham also placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.74 seconds.
The pole vault event saw IC athletes going one-two; Benson finished second while Paige Nowak took third place after both cleared a height of 3.05 meters.
Looking ahead, Illinois College will compete next weekend at the Rogers Haynes Invite hosted by Monmouth College.
