Illinois College women secure five titles at Roger Haynes Invitational

Five members of the Illinois College women's track and field team secured individual titles at the Roger Haynes Invitational held in Monmouth, Illinois, on Saturday.

Mattie Brown excelled in the 60 meters with a winning time of 7.98 seconds, having set a personal record (PR) of 7.83 seconds in the preliminaries. Haley Garrett achieved victory in the 200 meters with a PR time of 26.59 seconds, while Aleese Trimingham triumphed in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a PR of 9.59 seconds.

In field events, Paige Nowak claimed the pole vault title by clearing a personal best height of 3.31 meters.

The Lady Blues also dominated in relay events. The 4x200 meter relay team consisting of Brown, Garrett, Fynesse Jones, and Deja Anderson won their event with a time of 1:46.42. Similarly, the team comprising Mady Salisbury, Lacie Schultz, Apiphany Patterson, and Maddison Dortch took first place in the 1,600 meter relay with a time of 4:32.78.

Other notable performances included Claire Peters securing third place in the mile run with a time of 6:24.37 and Kairy Mercado-Ramos along with Morgan Carrino setting PRs in the 5,000 meters with times of 21:11.10 and 21:48.48 respectively to finish second and third.

Illinois College will next compete at home during the IC Hilltop Classic on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
