The Illinois College women's track and field team achieved notable successes at the IC Snowbird Invite held at King Field House in Jacksonville, Illinois. The event saw two individual victories for the Lady Blues.
Senior Paige Nowak secured a win in the pole vault by clearing 3.15 meters, narrowly surpassing her teammate Maddie Benson, who finished in second place. Freshman Deja Anderson made an impressive debut at King Field House by winning the long jump with a leap of 5.36 meters, marking the fifth-best performance in Illinois College history. Anderson also placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.03 seconds.
Freshman Haley Garrett contributed to the team's achievements by finishing fourth in the long jump with a distance of 4.93 meters and securing third place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.09 seconds. Fellow freshman Mattie Brown followed closely behind Garrett, finishing sixth with a time of 27.33 seconds.
Aleese Trimingham, another freshman, finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles clocking a time of 10.03 seconds, while Apiphany Patterson also took fourth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.22.
The Lady Blues are set to compete again next Saturday at the Rogers Haynes Invite in Monmouth.
