The Illinois College men's soccer team faced a challenging match against Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Thursday night. The Blueboys narrowly lost to the Kohawks with a final score of 4-6.
The game began with Illinois College taking an early lead. Tyler Lunning scored the first goal in the 16th minute, assisted by Jason Hernandez. Shortly after, Reed Rogers extended their lead to 2-0 with assistance from Albert Nimako.
Coe College responded in the 33rd minute when Alan Losoya scored their first goal, leaving the Blueboys with a 2-1 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, both teams intensified their efforts. Coe College equalized in the 47th minute with Ian Kearney's goal. However, Tyler Lunning quickly regained the lead for Illinois College with his second goal immediately following kickoff. The Kohawks tied it again at 3-3 thanks to Jaiden Palmer's effort in the 51st minute.
Coe College took a 4-3 lead in the 71st minute before Tyler Schiltz brought Illinois College level again at 4-4 in the 81st minute. Despite their efforts, Coe College managed to score twice more in the closing minutes, securing their victory over the Blueboys.
Illinois College will play against Eureka College on Saturday, September 16 at England Stadium.
