The Illinois College men's soccer team secured a victory against Webster University on Tuesday night, with a final score of 2-0. This win brings the Blueboys' overall record to 5-3-1 for the season.
Both teams were evenly matched in the first half, each attempting nine shots. The breakthrough came in the 50th minute when Illinois College was awarded a penalty kick. Tyler Schiltz, known as the all-time leading scorer in IC soccer history, successfully converted the penalty to give his team a 1-0 lead.
The Blueboys extended their lead in the 63rd minute. Santiago Martinez took a shot that led to a rebound, which Tyler Lunning capitalized on by scoring another goal.
Illinois College dominated in terms of shots taken, outshooting Webster 21-13, with nine of those being on target. Owen Macias played as goalkeeper for IC and made four saves during the match.
The Blueboys are set to begin their Midwest Conference play with an away game at Ripon College on Saturday, September 23 at 1:30 PM.
