Illinois College's Esports team faced a challenging match against Buena Vista University, resulting in a 0-4 loss during their MVEC Overwatch competition.
The match opened with Illinois College falling 0-2 on the Oasis map, where they encountered difficulties countering Buena Vista's dive strategy. On King's Row, Buena Vista's strong defensive play prevented Illinois College from capturing the first point, leading to another defeat at 0-1. New Queen Street proved to be the most competitive map of the series, yet Illinois College was unable to secure victory and lost 3-1 despite winning some team fights. The series concluded on Shambali Monastery with Illinois College failing to win any team fights and losing 0-1.
Noah "Ponyboy" Horsman led his team in damage output with a total of 20,692 points, while Dwight "Rhunn" Duijneveld achieved a team-high of 10 eliminations.
The next opportunity for Illinois College to compete will be against Pratt Community College on Thursday, February 20th at 8:00 pm.
