The Illinois College Lady Blues volleyball team faced two defeats at the Central Tri in Pella, Iowa on Tuesday. The team lost their first match against Simpson with set scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 25-16. In this match, Elliana Huckstep led the Lady Blues with nine kills and a .368 hitting percentage. Delani Klaas contributed eight kills, while Summer Brandis provided 17 assists and four aces. On defense, Mady Salisbury recorded eight digs and Riley Drake added seven.
In the second match of the evening, Illinois College was defeated by Central in four sets (25-12, 20-25, 25-19, 25-13). Ella Ausmus led the offense for IC with eight kills. Laura Kaiser, Alyssa Burglund, and Klaas each added five kills. Brandis finished with 16 assists and Kahli O'Neal contributed 13 assists. Salisbury once again led defensively with 11 digs.
Following these results, Illinois College's overall record stands at 9 wins and 18 losses.
The Lady Blues will return to Midwest Conference play later this week as they travel to face Cornell on Friday at 7:00 p.m., followed by a matchup against Beloit on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
