Illinois College men's basketball ranked third in Midwest Conference preseason coaches' poll

The Illinois College men's basketball team has been selected to finish third in the Midwest Conference (MWC) Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was released from Grinnell, Iowa. The Blueboys earned one first-place vote and are coming off a 17-9 overall record for the 2024-25 season, including a 10-6 performance in conference play. The team also reached the semifinals of the postseason conference tournament for the fourth consecutive year.

Monmouth College led this year's poll with 60 points and seven first-place votes. Grinnell College followed in second place with 56 points and one first-place vote. Illinois College took third place with 52 points and one first-place vote.

The top five teams were rounded out by Lake Forest College, which received 40 points, and Ripon College with 33 points. The rest of the poll included Lawrence University (27 points), Cornell College (24 points), Beloit College (22 points), and Knox College (10 points).

Illinois College will begin its 2025-26 season on Friday by hosting Principia in the opening round of the annual Bill Merris Tournament at Sherman Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
