Springfield welcomes first baby of 2025 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital

HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield welcomed the first baby of 2025, Aar’ion Henderson, born to Arion Malone on January 1 at 9:40 a.m. The newborn weighed 5 pounds, 8.8 ounces and measured 18.75 inches long.

In celebration of his birth as St. John's New Year's Baby for 2025, the hospital's Women and Infants Center staff presented Malone with a basket of gifts.

For expectant mothers in 2025, St. John's care team recommends scheduling tours and signing up for birthing classes at the facility. The hospital is recognized as a Level III Perinatal Center, offering advanced care for mothers and babies in south-central Illinois.

The Women and Infants Center welcomes over 2,000 babies annually. Its antenatal unit is equipped with maternal/fetal medicine specialists available around the clock to assist expectant mothers requiring additional care due to conditions such as pre-term labor or high blood pressure.
