HSHS St. John’s Hospital has named Terra McMasters as its 2024 Colleague of the Year. McMasters, an LPN II in the Medical Unit and February's Colleague of the Month, was recognized for her dedication to patient care.

“Terra treats each patient she cares for with dignity and respect,” a nomination noted. “She truly listens to each patient and does her best to meet their needs.”

Matt Fry, President and CEO of HSHS Central Illinois Market and HSHS St. John’s Hospital, praised McMasters: “HSHS St. John’s Hospital is honored to have a colleague who exemplifies our Core Values of Respect, Care, Competence and Joy,” he said. “Terra is someone who goes above and beyond for the patients she serves, as well as for the colleagues she works with.”

The Colleague of the Year is chosen from monthly honorees selected by their peers throughout the year. The 2024 Colleagues of the Month include:

- January: Alte Gillum, Cook II, Food and Nutrition Services

- March: Conner Krattiger, Child Life Specialist, Pediatrics

- April: Emily O’Neill, RN, Cardiovascular Care Unit (CVCU)

- May: Jodi Wood, RN, Women and Infants Center

- June: Rose LoGrasso, RN, Outpatient Surgery Center (OSC)

- July: Megan Kisling, Office Facilitator, Outpatient Rehabilitation

- August: Ashley Calbow, RT, Respiratory Therapy

- September: Rona Tagarda, RN, Emergency Department

- October: Ian Wilson, Pharmacist

- November: Rachel Fox, RN Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

- December: Misty Wilson Patient Care Tech II Women and Infants Center

McMasters was celebrated at an event where she received an award and flowers surrounded by well-wishers including Lindsey Downing (Assistant Manager-Nursing), Danielle Merriman (Director-Nursing), and Dr. Ashish Tokhi (Chief Medical Officer).
